Samaila James is a Senior Faculty Member with Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria; Department of Food Science and Technology. He has a Bachelor of Technology Degree (BTech) in Food Science and Technology from Federal University of Technology, Yola (now Moddibo Adama University) and holds MSc and PhD in Food Chemistry and Biotechnology from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Nigeria. He has experience in teaching, research and community service spanning more than fifteen years. He has supervised over 50 undergraduate projects and currently supervising 10 MTech and co-supervising two PhD students. His major areas of research are cereal and legume chemistry; characterization of bioactive compounds in lesser legumes; optimization of local bioprocessing technologies for better nutrition. He is currently working on influence of bioprocessing technologies on the availability of bioactive compounds in different plant based food materials. He has published more than 40 papers in reputable journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of three reputable journals. He is a professional member of Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology.
